Manchar police arrest two members of inter-district gang that stole women's jewellery at bus stand

A buyer of the stolen gold was also held; items worth Rs 4.90 lakh, including jewellery, were seized from the accused.

Manchar police have arrested two accused from an inter-district gang that stole women's jewellery in the crowd at the bus station. A man who bought the stolen gold has also been arrested. Goods worth Rs 4.90 lakh, including stolen gold jewellery, have been seized from the accused.

The arrested are Ashok Baban Bhosale (28, a resident of Kasari, Ashti taluka, Beed district, currently living in Hirdgaon), Ashwini Avinash Bhosale (26, a resident of Mahijalgaon, Karjat taluka, Ahilyanagar district) and Satish Madhukar Gore (54, a resident of Shivajinagar, Jamkhed, Ahilyanagar district).

Women's jewellery had repeatedly been stolen at Manchar bus station, with thieves exploiting the crowd as passengers boarded ST buses. To probe these incidents, a joint investigation team was formed on the directions of Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, Additional Superintendent of Police Dr Shubham Kumar and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Amol Mandve. The team worked under the supervision of Police Inspector Mahadev Waghmode and Local Crime Branch Police Inspector Pramod Kshirsagar.

Police had been tracing the accused through CCTV footage and technical analysis. On September 24, they received information that the accused had come to Manchar bus station. The team then detained Ashok Bhosale and Ashwini Bhosale. Based on information from the two, Satish Gore, who bought the gold, was arrested.

During questioning, the accused confessed to thefts within the limits of the Manchar, Khed and Narayangaon police stations. Gold jewellery weighing three and a half tolas has been seized from them, and the total value of the seized goods has been put at Rs 4.90 lakh. Further investigation is under way.

According to police, theft incidents are rising across the state and the country, causing fear among the public. Police are making efforts to prevent thefts.
