The Crime Intelligence Bureau (CIB) of the Railway Protection Force in Nagpur has caught two men who were trying to smuggle ganja while traveling in an AC coach. A total of 22.440 kilograms of ganja was recovered from the accused, valued at around Rs 11.22 lakh.

The arrested accused have been identified as Aafir Sadhu Malik (22) and Tukuna Soside Tanti (23). Aafir Malik is a resident of Gajapati district in Odisha.

The CIB Nagpur had already received information that two passengers were traveling with a large quantity of ganja in AC coaches B-5 and B-6 of train number 12843 Puri-Ahmedabad Express. Acting on this tip, a special CIB team boarded the same train and began surveillance and investigation between the Sindi-Wardha section.

During the investigation, it was found that Aafir Sadhu Malik, seated on berth number 19 in coach B-5, and Tukuna Tanti, seated on berth number 16 in coach B-6, were behaving somewhat suspiciously. When the team questioned them about their luggage, both grew nervous and could not give a proper answer about it.

With suspicion deepening, both were taken off the train along with their luggage at Wardha railway station. Their trolley bags were then searched, yielding 8.150 kg of ganja from Malik's bag and 14.290 kg from Tanti's bag.

The CIB team seized a total of 22.440 kg of ganja, two trolley bags and two mobile phones from the two accused. Both were arrested, and the accused and the seized material were handed over to the Railway Police (Lohmarg Police) for further legal action.

Following this action, police attention has now also turned to networks smuggling narcotics via trains. The Railway Police are currently questioning the accused about where this consignment of ganja came from and where it was meant to be delivered.
