A major administrative reshuffle is likely in the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate as part of the ongoing promotion process in the Maharashtra Police. Eleven senior police inspectors of the commissionerate have been included in the selection list, that is, the eligibility list, for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police / Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).

The development will directly affect several sensitive and important police stations. The heads of Rabale MIDC, Rabale, Vashi, Sanpada, Nerul, NRI Coastal, Kharghar, Ulwe, Khandeshwar and Panvel City police stations will change. These posts will fall vacant once the selection and the scrutiny of service records are complete. The entire Navi Mumbai police force is watching which new officers take charge of these key posts.

The officers in the selection list and their current postings are as follows. Balkrishna Sahebrao Sawant is at Rabale police station. Devidas Prabhakar Katale is posted at Rabale MIDC police station, Shashikant Shivajirao Chandekar at Vashi police station and Deepak Vijay Surve at Sanpada police station. Ajay Pandurang Kamble is at Nerul police station, while Sunil Anandrao Waghmare is at NRI Coastal police station. Arjun Ramkrishna Rajane is at Ulwe police station, Sanjay Waman Joshi at Kharghar police station, Smita Valmik Dhakane at Khandeshwar police station and Bala Raghunath Kumbhar at Panvel City police station. Audumbar Bhalchandra Patil is working in Cell 3 of the Crime Branch.

Officers from traffic and other branches are also on the list. Rajesh Rudrammi Nandimath of the Kopar Khairane traffic branch, Gulfaroz Maula Ali Mujawar of the Kharghar traffic branch and Ajay Pandurang Bhosale of the Turbhe MIDC traffic branch are named in it. Besides them, Santoshkumar Shrimandar Kane, Avinash Eknath Kaldate, Tanaji Ramdas Bhagat, Satish Sambhajirao Kadam, Nandkishor Muralidhar Badhe, Vaishali Ashok Gaландe, Shatrughan Devidas Mali, Brahmanand Raosaheb Naikwadi, Pradeep Ramnathji Lande, Maheshkumar Pralhad Sartape and Tanaji Mahadev Narnawar, who work in the side branch and the traffic branch, are also named in the list.

Before the final promotion selection list is issued, the service books, confidential reports, pending departmental inquiries and other legal aspects of all the officers concerned are being closely examined. The final promotion list of eligible officers will be issued only after this process is complete.

Although the list is out, there are fears that some officers may decline promotion for personal or technical reasons. There is talk in the police department that, under the rules, officers who refuse promotion may later be posted to side branches, that is, branches of lesser importance. The entire process of transfers and promotions is expected to be completed by December. It will then be interesting to see which new and capable officers Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe entrusts with these important police stations once they fall vacant.
