Trial in Ketan Agarwal murder case to begin at Vadgaon Maval sessions court on Saturday

Pimpri Chinchwad, 30 October 2026: The first hearing in the Ketan Agarwal murder case is scheduled for Saturday, 31 October, in the afternoon at the sessions court in Vadgaon Maval. The case has drawn wide attention across Maharashtra from the start. All three accused are expected to be produced before the court at the hearing.

Senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam is likely to appear for the prosecution as Special Public Prosecutor in this sensitive case.

According to the police investigation, the main accused, Siya Goyal (20), was allegedly in a relationship with Chetan Chaudhary (22). Investigators suspect that Siya did not want to marry Ketan and, for this reason, conspired with Chaudhary to kill him.

The incident dates to 18 June 2026. It is alleged that Ketan was called to Lohagad Fort in the Lonavala area on the pretext of attending a friend's birthday celebration. While he was taking photographs there, he was allegedly pushed into a gorge. The accused are said to have tried to pass off the incident as an accident.

During the investigation, police examined technical and digital evidence. The gait of a suspect captured in the material is reported to have matched that of Chetan Chaudhary. On the basis of the digital evidence and other findings, Lonavala Rural Police arrested Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary and his friend Ritesh Hange.

Police completed the investigation within three months and filed a 5,053-page chargesheet in court in September 2026. With the investigation over, the case is now moving into court proceedings. The court proceedings are expected to begin with Saturday's first hearing, and people across the state are following the case closely.
