Three wanted in Taloja firing case detained in Pune by Ambegaon police

Ambegaon police detained three men wanted by the police in connection with a shooting in Taloja, Navi Mumbai, from the Dattanagar area of Pune. The information emerged at Katraj on October 24, 2026. The accused were traced to Dattanagar after police learnt they were in the area. The three were then handed over to Navi Mumbai police for further action, said Sharad Zine, Senior Police Inspector of Ambegaon police station.

The detained men are Rudra Dadasaheb Barwakar (19, resident of Mhaske Chawl, Jain Mandir Road, Santoshnagar, Katraj), Aniket Pratap Narwade (19, resident of Khandale, Ranjangaon, Shirur taluka) and Saurabh Gorakh Chaudhari (24, resident of Santoshnagar, Katraj). Barwakar and Chaudhari are residents of Santoshnagar in Katraj, while Narwade lives at Khandale in Ranjangaon in Shirur taluka.

According to police, the shooting took place at about 1.17 am on October 24 in Panvel taluka of Raigad district, near Shivaji Chowk in Taloja Phase 2, in the area of Marvel Building. Police allege that the accused assaulted the complainant over a financial dispute and fired a shot at him from a pistol with intent to kill, leaving him seriously injured.

A case has been registered at Taloja police station under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act.

"On receiving information that the wanted accused were in the Dattanagar area, the investigation team went there, laid a trap and detained them," Inspector Zine said.

Police personnel Dhanaji Dhone and Sachin Gade of the Ambegaon police station's search team had received information on the whereabouts of the accused. Acting on it, the team moved in and detained the three.

"The accused have been handed over to Navi Mumbai police for further action," Zine added.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Milind Mohite, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 2; Sagar Kawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 3; and Rahul Aware, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bharati Vidyapeeth division.

The team included Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zine, Police Inspector (Crime) Changdev Sajgane and Sub-Inspector Yuvraj Shinde of Ambegaon police station. Police personnel Chetan Gore, Hanumant Masal, Harish Gaikwad, Dhanaji Dhone, Sachin Gade, Dnyaneshwar Chite, Rakesh Tekawade, Pramod Bhosale, Nitin Katunde, Yogesh Jagdale, Ajay Kamathe, Subhash More, Shivaji Potale and Firoz Shaikh also took part in the operation.
