Congress leader and former Union minister Sushilkumar Shinde has made a startling disclosure. He says the Bharatiya Janata Party had offered him, too, a chance to leave the Congress and join the BJP. Shinde also said he still keeps talking to the Prime Minister. According to him, Sharad Pawar also speaks to the Prime Minister and even takes him to Baramati. Shinde also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion.
Shinde made the remarks while talking to the media. His grandson, Shikhar Pahariya, had put up banners wishing the Prime Minister on his birthday. Speaking on this, Shinde praised Modi directly. He said many good things happen under Modi, and some bad ones too.
On the offer, Shinde said the BJP had made it, but he had asked what he would do in the BJP when he was in the Congress. He said he would do the work where he is, and did not want to go there and interfere in their affairs again. According to Shinde, the Prime Minister speaks to Sharad Pawar as much as he speaks to him. He said Sharadrao takes the Prime Minister to Baramati, nobody questions him, and nothing is lost if he attends an inauguration or the like.
Shinde also gave his view on the state of newcomers to the BJP. He said he had seen this, and that it was the same not only today but 25 years ago. He said he had also seen people go to the BJP together and return within four or five years. Shinde said mistakes happen in politics too, so journalists should analyse those mistakes. If someone has erred unknowingly, it should be understood. In his view, our democracy is one that keeps rising, and no stain should fall on it.
Shinde also defended his grandson, Shikhar Pahariya. He asked what was spoiled by putting up banners wishing the Prime Minister. He said news came the day before yesterday that his grandson had put up the banners, but asked what harm was done by doing so for one day. Shinde said he himself had also met the Prime Minister recently. He said nothing is spoiled by this and one's ideology does not change.
Shinde also said that some time ago a book from the Sangh was published and he specially leafed through it. In his view, as a student of political science, all this is important. He said leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) came to Solapur yesterday and he gathered information about them too. Shinde also reads their literature. He said the Communist Party has a long history.
