Satara hostel student found dead after friend's death in road accident

A student living in a hostel in Satara has died by suicide, it has emerged. She is understood to have been deeply distressed after a close friend died in a road accident. The incident took place in the hostel of Yashoda Technical Campus and has cast a pall of grief over students and her family.

The deceased has been identified as Pooja Mane. She was a resident of Manewadi village in Khatav taluka of Satara district. She lived away from home to pursue her studies.

According to the information available on the case, Pooja had recently gone with her close friend to Kolhapur to visit the Shri Mahalakshmi temple. While they were returning after the darshan, the Scorpio vehicle in which they were travelling met with a serious accident. Her friend is said to have died on the spot.

The sudden shock is believed to have affected Pooja deeply. She is also said to have found it hard to bear the grief of her friend's death. However, the exact circumstances of her state of mind are part of the ongoing inquiry.

Pooja was found dead in the hostel of Yashoda Technical Campus. After the incident came to light, Satara Taluka police station was informed.

Police have begun an investigation to find out the reason behind her death and to gather further information. The investigation is still under way.
