Rotary Club of Pune Amanora and its CSR partner UCC have rebuilt the toilets at the Zilla Parishad primary school in Pawarwadi, Kendur, under the club's WINS initiative.
Pune, November 2, 2026: The toilets at the Zilla Parishad primary school in Pawarwadi, Kendur village, have been rebuilt. The work was done by the Rotary Club of Pune Amanora (RCPA) together with its CSR partner UCC, under the club's WINS (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools) initiative.
The aim of the project was to give schoolchildren clean, safe and hygienic toilets. According to Dimple Seth, service director of the Rotary Club of Pune Amanora, the repairs have directly benefited 55 children. They now have toilets with better privacy and running water.
Seth said the school's existing sanitation facilities needed considerable improvement to meet basic standards of cleanliness and health. The club believes decent toilets are essential for children's health, safety and comfort, and for their daily attendance at school. It therefore took up the work with UCC's help.
Seth said: "The aim was to create a clean, hygienic and comfortable environment where children can use the toilets with dignity. The response from the children and the school authorities has been very encouraging. The children are extremely happy with their newly built bathrooms, which has brought a new sense of comfort and pride to the school."
A formal inauguration ceremony was held at the school once the project was complete. Representatives of the Rotary Club of Pune Amanora and UCC attended, and members of the Kendur village administration also took part.
The club has adopted Kendur as part of a long-term rural development initiative. According to Seth, Kendur is a cluster of 13 villages, and adopting it is part of the club's long-standing commitment to the development of villages and the welfare of society.
The school toilet project is one of several undertaken by the club in the area. It has earlier had local schools repaired and has worked on a sustainable supply of clean drinking water. Sewing machines have also been distributed to local women to help them earn a livelihood and become economically self-reliant.
Seth said the club's approach is not limited to building or infrastructure projects. Its focus is on improving essential services and creating opportunities that allow communities to develop in a sustainable way.
Through its continuing partnership with UCC, the Rotary Club of Pune Amanora wants to strengthen educational infrastructure, sanitation, basic amenities and employment opportunities in the Kendur area. According to Seth, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to the development of every aspect of rural society, with particular emphasis on creating a healthier and more supportive environment for children and families.
