Vehicles often travel in the wrong direction on the lane next to the Dharmavat petrol pump (Bharat Petroleum) in Pisoli. Locals also know the pump as the CNG pump. Residents say traffic rules are being broken repeatedly, especially at busy hours, raising the risk of an accident. Motorists as well as other road users are at risk.

According to locals, auto-rickshaws, cars and even water tankers often use the wrong side of the road to get through this stretch. The problem is said to be worse during peak hours, when traffic increases and vehicles coming head-on can create dangerous situations.

People also said the spot lacks basic traffic safety measures. There are no proper signboards, no traffic signals and no speed breakers. As a result, it is difficult for pedestrians and drivers to pass safely.

Local resident Irshad Shaikh pointed to the lack of necessary safety arrangements at the spot. "There are no signboards here, no red light, no speed breakers, nothing," he said. He said the authorities concerned should pay immediate attention to this.

Residents say wrong-way driving is not an occasional occurrence. It is said to happen often, especially when traffic is heavy. Heavy vehicles such as water tankers also travel the wrong way, adding to the danger. It is riskier for two-wheeler riders, who have very little time to react on seeing a vehicle coming towards them.

Tahseen Tirandaz also expressed concern over the situation. Tahseen stressed the need to solve the problem of wrong-way driving and improve traffic management in the area.

Residents believe that proper signboards, clearly visible warnings and measures to slow vehicles could bring discipline to the road and reduce the chance of collisions.

People have asked the traffic officials concerned to inspect the stretch and take the necessary steps. Their demands include putting up clear traffic signboards, assessing the need for signals and speed breakers, and tougher action against vehicles driving in the wrong direction.

They also said traffic should be monitored regularly at busy hours, when wrong-way driving cases are reported to be higher. Strict action against violators and better traffic management could stop dangerous manoeuvres and make travel safer, they said.

Residents have asked the administration to look into the matter before a major accident occurs. They say timely intervention, better road safety arrangements and sustained enforcement are needed to make the stretch safer for everyone.
