According to police, Aslam drove a rickshaw and also worked repairing rickshaws at a garage. On Friday, October 30, he had a quarrel with a youth from the Municipal Corporation Colony Number 10 area. Around 11.30 pm that night, Aslam left Kashewadi to go somewhere.

Police said the accused youth stopped him near the Chamanshah Dargah and started an argument. He was then beaten up. It is alleged that he was hit on the head with a stone and seriously injured. The accused then fled the spot.

Injured, Aslam began feeling dizzy and somehow reached home. Because of the dizziness, he fell asleep at home. He died in his sleep. On the morning of Saturday, October 31, he did not wake up. His family tried to rouse him but he did not respond.

The family took him to hospital immediately, where doctors said he had died before treatment could begin. Inquiries revealed that a youth had assaulted Aslam. His elder brother then filed a complaint with the police.

A search is on for the absconding accused. Police Inspector Pawar of the Crime Branch is investigating the case.
