Police had received secret information that a high-profile prostitution racket was running in a well-known five-star hotel on Sangamwadi-Bund Garden Road, near Excise Colony. Acting on it, a team led by Police Inspector Ashalata Khapre of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (HTU) swung into action immediately.
The team first sent a decoy customer to the hotel and confirmed the information. As soon as it was established that the information was correct, the police team raided a hotel room without warning.
In the swift action, police rescued two victim women who had been brought from another state and worked in the modelling field. Preliminary information suggests they were pushed into the trade by being lured with money or by exploiting their helplessness.
A case has been registered at Koregaon Park police station against four people.
