The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's standing committee approved proposals for road asphalting, drain repairs, footpaths, toilets and hospital equipment upkeep.

The standing committee of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has approved proposals for development works in different parts of the city. The approvals came at the committee's weekly meeting. They include asphalting of roads, repair of drains, construction of footpaths, storm-water drains, repair of public toilets, and maintenance and repair of medical machines in hospitals. The aim is to speed up basic civic works in the city.

The meeting was held in the late Mayor Madhukarrao Ramchandra Pawale hall in the corporation's administrative building. The committee cleared a proposal for maintenance and repair of the HVAC (air-conditioning) system, operating theatre and electrical system of the Talera Hospital in Chinchwad for the next two years. It also approved an agreement with the original manufacturer for upkeep of the digital radiography machine in the X-ray department of Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCM) after its warranty period ends.

The road works include DP and non-DP roads in Ward 16, Ravet, which have now come into the corporation's possession. A project management consultant will be appointed to develop them. Roads in the Pawananagar and Adarshnagar areas of Ward 22 will be asphalted using the hotmix method. Repair and asphalting of various roads in Wards 6, 8 and 20 are also part of the approvals. The committee also cleared the demolition of the old CD work near Sudarshannagar Health Club in Ward 19 and its reconstruction.

Storm-water drains, footpaths and other civil works will be carried out in the Akurdi village area of Ward 15. Footpaths will be built in Ward 9, along with civil works in the Nehrunagar and Vitthalnagar areas. Road furniture works will be done at Shahunagar in Ward 10. Repair of public toilets, laying of paving blocks and installation of direction signboards were also approved in Dighi-Bopkhel, Chovisawadi, Wadmukhwadi, Moshi, Dudulgaon and Ward 18.

In addition, the bodies that look after five Muslim and Lingayat burial grounds in Dapodi, Nigdi and Dighi have been given a one-month extension, until a new tender process is completed. Tenders to supply sound systems, CCTV, generators and lighting for events within the limits of the various ward offices were also approved. The honorarium period for contract staff of the National Urban Livelihoods Mission was extended. A proposal to extend the arrangement for rickshaw-tempos, including vehicle, fuel and driver, in Wards 16, 17, 18 and 22 was also passed.

A proposal for the cost of an e-learning module was placed before the committee, to provide visual-based learning and a virtual laboratory for students at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Sangvi. At the women's ITI in Kasarwadi, expenditure on buying essential materials after heavy rain was approved. The approvals for these works on roads, drains, public facilities and health services will boost the development of the city's civic infrastructure.
