Man who threatened to kill Jitendra Awhad held in Pune after landlord takes him to police

Vishal Madhavrao Bicchewad, a security supervisor, was detained by Lonikand police and handed to Thane police over threatening calls to the NCP (SP) MLA.

A man who threatened to kill Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader and MLA Jitendra Awhad has been detained in Pune. Lonikand police caught him and later handed him over to Thane police.

The man is Vishal Madhavrao Bicchewad. He reportedly works as a security supervisor. Notably, it was his landlord who took him to the police.

Awhad received threats to his life through two to three phone calls and messages on the night of October 19. The caller abused him in foul language and said, "I have come to your door, tell them to let me in, and I will shoot Jitya first." A complaint was filed at Wartak Nagar police station.

The landlord saw the news on television and realised that Vishal, who lived in the house as a tenant, was responsible. He immediately caught him and brought him to Lonikand police station, where police detained him.

Thane police then reached Lonikand police station promptly. They took Vishal Bicchewad into custody and served him a notice.

A few days ago, Awhad had shared a mobile number on Twitter and written that the man with the number 7038841820 had called him two or three times. According to him, the man threatened to kill him in foul language over the phone. Awhad wrote that this had been going on since 4.30 pm and that the man kept saying he was standing at the door of his house.

After Awhad was threatened, his worker Hemant Vani called the same number. The same man threatened to kill him too. He said, "I will shoot Jitya first, then I will shoot you too," and said he had already come to the front of the house and left. Hemant Vani then complained to the police, and police have now detained the man.
