Mumbai Traffic Police have shut the stretch from November 6, 2026 for concreting and stormwater drain work, and also announced a closure of the Mogra Nala bridge in Oshiwara.
Motorists who travel daily through Andheri East and Marol will have to take another route for a long period. Mumbai Traffic Police have announced that the road connecting Seven Hills junction with Lokbharti junction will remain closed from November 6, 2026 to May 31, 2027.
All types of vehicles will be barred from the road during this period. Extensive work is to be carried out there, including concreting of the road and construction of stormwater drains. According to the police, the restriction has been imposed so that the work can be done safely.
The notification has been issued by the MIDC Traffic Division. The restriction has been imposed under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The notification has been issued in the name of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Eastern Suburbs Traffic) Pradeep Chavan.
The closure is expected to affect people travelling to and from Marol-Maroshi Road, Seven Hills Hospital and nearby areas. Traffic may move slowly in parts of Andheri East and Marol, especially during peak hours.
To keep traffic moving and cause the least inconvenience, the police have fixed an alternative route. Vehicles coming from the Seven Hills junction side will be diverted via Military Road, Tanvi Super Market junction and Marol Bhavan. Motorists can reach their destinations by this route.
The police have advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance, keep some extra time for travel, and follow the instructions of traffic police and diversion signboards to avoid jams.
Meanwhile, a traffic restriction has also been announced in Oshiwara. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will demolish and rebuild the Mogra Nala bridge in Oshiwara, and Mumbai Police have therefore announced a traffic stoppage and diversion.
According to the official traffic notification, the Mogra Nala bridge on Pramod Navalkar Marg, which connects SAB TV Road with Link Road, will remain closed to vehicles in both directions until May 31, 2027, to allow it to be demolished and rebuilt.
Mumbai Traffic Police issued the temporary notification on Monday. It says the bridge has become dilapidated and the BMC will build a new bridge at the same site. The closure falls under the jurisdiction of the Oshiwara Traffic Division and takes effect from the date of the notification.
