Mumbai Traffic Police have announced overnight closures and diversions in Mazgaon, and a full closure of the Mogra Nala bridge in Oshiwara until May 31, 2027.

Mumbai Traffic Police have announced that some roads in the Byculla traffic division will be closed for a few hours on November 5 and 6. The reason is redevelopment work at a cemetery in Mazgaon.

According to the traffic notification, the restriction will be in force on both days from 12.01 am to 6 am. The arrangements have been made for public safety and to avoid congestion around the construction site.

The notification was issued under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, by Hemrajsingh Rajput, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Traffic). It says two locations will be affected. The first is Sant Savta Marg, where vehicle movement will be barred. The second is the connecting slip road towards B Nath Pai Road, near the Muslim cemetery in Mazgaon, which will be closed.

Motorists coming from Dockyard Junction Road have been asked to take this diversion: take a left towards Maharana Pratap Chowk, then a right on Mascarenhas Road, and reach their destination via Mustafa Bazar.

Vehicles arriving at Mustafa Bazar Junction from Sant Savta Mali Marg can use the new Reay Road bridge. After crossing the bridge, they can turn right and join B Nath Pai Marg towards Mazgaon.

Traffic police have asked motorists travelling through South Mumbai during these hours to follow the designated diversions and plan their journeys accordingly.

Separately, in Oshiwara, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will demolish and rebuild the Mogra Nala bridge. Mumbai Police have announced traffic restrictions and diversions because of this.

According to the official traffic notification, the Mogra Nala bridge on Pramod Navalkar Marg in Oshiwara, which connects SAB TV Road to Link Road, will remain closed to vehicles in both directions until May 31, 2027, for demolition and reconstruction.

Mumbai Traffic Police issued the temporary notification on Monday. It says the bridge had become dilapidated and the BMC will demolish it and rebuild it on the same site. The closure falls under the jurisdiction of the Oshiwara traffic division and takes effect from the date of the notification.

According to the notification by Ajit Borhade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, Western Suburbs), the bridge will be completely closed to all types of vehicles in both directions during demolition and construction. The restrictions have been imposed for public safety and to prevent congestion in the area during the work.
