Neral-Matheran mini train to resume on October 30 after monsoon suspension

Central Railway announced on Wednesday that train services between Neral and Matheran will resume from October 30, 2026. The service is kept shut every year during the monsoon. Two services will run daily in each direction. One train will carry a Vistadome coach and the other a first-class coach.

As a precaution, train services between Neral and Matheran remain suspended from June to October, that is, during the monsoon. Shuttle services between Aman Lodge and Matheran, however, continue to run as scheduled during this period.

With the Neral-Matheran route reopening, passengers will once again be able to travel on the popular narrow-gauge railway linking the two places. Central Railway has released the timetable for the Neral-Matheran mini train and the Aman Lodge-Matheran shuttle services.

Two trains will run daily from Neral to Matheran. Train No. 52103 will leave Neral at 8.50 am and reach Matheran at 11.30 am. Train No. 52105 will depart Neral at 10.25 am and arrive at Matheran at 1.05 pm.

There will also be two trains from Matheran to Neral. Train No. 52104 will leave Matheran at 2.45 pm and reach Neral at 5.30 pm. Train No. 52106 will leave Matheran at 4 pm and arrive at Neral at 6.40 pm.

Trains 52103 and 52104 will run with six coaches: three second-class coaches, one Vistadome coach and two second-class-cum-luggage vans. Trains 52105 and 52106 will also have six coaches: three second-class coaches, one first-class coach and two second-class-cum-luggage vans.

The Aman Lodge-Matheran shuttle services will run daily, with additional special services on Saturdays and Sundays. From Aman Lodge to Matheran, train 52153 will leave at 8.45 am and arrive at 9.03 am. Train 52155 will leave at 9.35 am and arrive at 9.53 am, 52157 at 12 noon and 12.18 pm, 52159 at 2.25 pm and 2.43 pm, 52161 at 3.40 pm and 3.58 pm, and 52163 at 5.45 pm and 6.03 pm.

On Saturdays and Sundays, Special 1 will leave Aman Lodge for Matheran at 10.30 am and arrive at 10.48 am, while Special 3 will leave at 1.35 pm and arrive at 1.53 pm.

From Matheran to Aman Lodge, train 52154 will leave at 8.20 am and arrive at 8.38 am. Train 52156 will leave at 9.10 am and arrive at 9.28 am, 52158 at 11.35 am and 11.53 am, 52160 at 2 pm and 2.18 pm, 52162 at 3.15 pm and 3.33 pm, and 52164 at 5.20 pm and 5.38 pm.

On Saturdays and Sundays, Special 2 will leave Matheran for Aman Lodge at 10.05 am and arrive at 10.23 am, and Special 4 will leave at 1.10 pm and arrive at 1.28 pm.

Central Railway has appealed to passengers to keep the train timings in mind while planning their journey. With the Neral-Matheran service starting, the direct mini train connection will be restored after the monsoon break.
