Mumbai Traffic Police have announced a long road closure in Bhandup East for replacing an old water pipeline, and an odd-even parking trial on a Mulund West road.

Mumbai Traffic Police on Thursday announced a long-duration road closure in Bhandup East for the replacement of an old water pipeline. An odd-even parking system has also been introduced on a Mulund West road, on an experimental basis, to ease congestion.

The restrictions in Bhandup East will come into force on October 30, 2026 and remain in effect until May 31, 2027. The parking rules in Mulund West will also begin on October 30 and apply until January 29, 2027.

According to the traffic police notification, under the Kanjurmarg Traffic Division, work to replace and relocate the old water pipeline will be carried out on Harishchandra Dadu Kopkar Marg in Bhandup East, near the M.D. Kenny Marg junction.

The affected stretch runs from the State Bank of India to the railway gate and Veer Savarkar Marg. To allow the work to be carried out safely, the southern channel of Harishchandra Dadu Kopkar Marg will be fully closed to vehicles as required.

The order has been issued by Pradeep Chavan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Eastern Suburbs, Traffic), Mumbai, under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

Motorists using the area will be diverted. The alternative route is M.D. Kenny Road, then a right turn at Kamal Sagar Society onto 90 Feet Road, a right turn from there onto 30 Feet Road, then Udayshree Road and finally Veer Savarkar Marg in Bhandup East.

Police have advised people to follow the designated diversion and to allow extra travel time while the pipeline work continues.

In a separate notification, the traffic police said an experimental odd-even parking system has been implemented on Baba Maharaj Singh Marg in Mulund West. The road connects Dr. R.P. Road with D.C. Das Road.

According to the traffic order, vehicles parked on both sides of the road have caused heavy congestion. Under the new arrangement, parking will be allowed on one side at a time, in turns, to ease the movement of vehicles. The experiment will run from October 30, 2026 to January 29, 2027.

The rules follow the Gregorian calendar date. On even dates, vehicles may be parked on the left side of the road, and on odd dates on the right side. Parking of heavy vehicles of every kind is completely prohibited on this road.

Police have asked motorists to follow the parking restrictions so that no one is inconvenienced and traffic in Mulund West keeps moving smoothly.
