A young man was killed on the spot after being hit by an AC local train at Bhandup railway station in Mumbai. The incident has left people deeply saddened.

According to the information available, the accident took place at platform number 3 of Bhandup station. The young man was crossing the railway track from platform number 3 when the AC local hit him with great force. The train was headed from Mumbai towards Kalyan via Thane.

Initial information suggests that after the impact, the young man was dragged along for around 15 to 20 minutes. On receiving news of the accident, railway police and railway officials reached the spot and began further action. Police are trying to contact the family of the deceased.

The accident came at a time when Central Railway's local services were disrupted after wires were found hanging from the overhead cable between Mulund and Thane stations. Commuters were seen walking on the tracks between Mulund and Nahur. Trains were running one to two hours late. People are also angry that the young man lost his life needlessly because of the disruption on Central Railway.

At 9:23 am, an overhead equipment (OHE) wire snapped on the down slow line between Mulund and Thane stations. There were also faults at Kanjurmarg station and in the signalling system between Vikhroli and Bhandup. As a result, Central Line locals ran 15 to 60 minutes late, and many commuters had to travel along the tracks.

The railway administration began work to remove the wires at 10 am after switching off the power supply. But traffic has not yet returned to normal and movement is almost at a standstill.
