Aayesha Shroff to bear treatment costs of fan Umesh Chauhan injured in firing at Tiger Shroff's car
Actor Tiger Shroff's mother has given the family money for his treatment, relatives say, while KEM Hospital said the bullet was removed in surgery.
Aayesha Shroff, mother of actor Tiger Shroff, has given money to the family of Umesh Chauhan, a fan of the actor who was injured in a firing incident, to meet his treatment costs. The family has confirmed this. The amount has not been disclosed.
Umesh's cousin Rahul Gaur said on Wednesday: "Aayesha madam gave me some money yesterday and some more today. She has assured me that they will take care of the entire cost of treatment and the medical needs after the operation."
The help followed a meeting Aayesha Shroff had with Umesh Chauhan in the early hours of Tuesday. During the meeting she also spoke to Rahul Gaur and promised the family full support in this difficult time.
Umesh's father thanked the Shroff family. He said: "We are grateful for this help. We are relieved that the bullet has been removed and the treatment is showing results. Now we want him to recover fully as soon as possible, so that he can look after his wife and their child who is on the way."
Tiger Shroff's father Jackie Shroff also commented on Tuesday on a Mid-Day Instagram post about Umesh Chauhan.
Dr Harish Manilal Pathak, dean of KEM Hospital, has issued a statement on Umesh's medical condition. According to the statement, the bullet was removed at 8 am in the cardiovascular and thoracic surgery (CVTS) operating theatre under general anaesthesia.
The statement said: "The procedure was performed by Dr Uday Eknath Jadhav, head of the CVTS department, and Dr Ram Prajapati, unit head of the surgery department. The patient tolerated the procedure well and was then shifted to the ESR Intensive Care Unit for monitoring. His vital parameters are stable for now and he is under close watch by doctors."
As for the background, at around 6.30 pm on October 18, three attackers on a bike stopped Tiger Shroff's BMW and fired seven rounds at the car from the front. Umesh Chauhan was hit in the chest.
Umesh was brought by rickshaw to Cooper Hospital in Juhu at around 7.10 pm. After his condition was stabilised there, he was shifted to KEM Hospital in Parel around midnight on October 19. On October 21, the bullet was removed from his liver.
