Trimbakeshwar police arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly stabbing Aryan Kamble, 18, over his relationship with the accused's sister.
An 18-year-old youth was stabbed to death with a sharp knife at Saapgaon in Trimbakeshwar taluka of Nashik district. The deceased has been identified as Aryan Somnath Kamble. Trimbakeshwar police arrested one accused within a short time. Police said the accused is the brother of the deceased's girlfriend.
The arrested accused is Aditya Eknath Mondhe, 20, a resident of Shirasgaon. The incident took place near the cremation ground on the Saapgaon-Brahmagiri ferry road.
According to police, Kamble and the accused's sister had been in a relationship for the past six months. Though both belonged to the same community, the girl's family did not approve of the relationship. Police said Mondhe believed the relationship was damaging the family's social standing, and this left him angry with Kamble. The two had quarrelled earlier as well.
On the day of the incident, Mondhe called Kamble to meet near the Saapgaon cremation ground, on the pretext of discussing his relationship with his sister. As soon as Kamble arrived, the two got into a heated argument again. It is alleged that Mondhe then took out a sharp knife he was carrying and stabbed Kamble several times in the stomach, neck, arm and chest.
Kamble fell to the ground covered in blood. He was rushed to hospital, but had died before treatment could begin.
On receiving information, Trimbakeshwar police reached the spot and began an investigation. They caught Mondhe. A case of murder has been registered against him under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Trimbakeshwar police are investigating further.
The incident has created an atmosphere of fear and anger in the area. The truth of the allegations against the accused will be determined in the police investigation and court proceedings.
