Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will celebrate Diwali this year among farmers of Nagpur district. He will celebrate the festival with farmers tonight in Lohari Sawanga village in Narkhed taluka and stay the night in the village. The Chief Minister is to leave Nagpur for Lohari Sawanga this evening.

Diwali enthusiasm is visible across the country, but this year the state is under the shadow of a severe drought and farmers are in distress. Against this background, efforts are being made at the government level. The visit has reportedly been planned to assure farmers that the government stands with them in their hour of crisis.

During the programme tonight, the Chief Minister will interact with the village's farmers. Farming difficulties, irrigation, crop insurance and other local issues will be discussed. He will listen to the farmers and share the joy of Diwali with them. The interaction is considered important for understanding the farmers' feelings and expectations. Farmers are hoping for relief from the chance to speak directly to the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister will be among farmers on Diwali so that those facing financial hardship because of the drought are encouraged and comforted, and the sense that the government is with them in good times and bad is strengthened.

Tomorrow morning, Sunday, the Chief Minister will hold a meeting with elected representatives of Narkhed taluka. On the way back, he will stop at some villages to inspect fields and will also review water conservation works.

Fadnavis has also appealed to ministers. He has said that a severe drought has struck the state this year and that the government has full sympathy for farmers' problems. He has therefore asked every minister to visit a village for at least one day this Diwali and celebrate the festival with farmers.

The list of ministers' programmes is as follows. Devendra Fadnavis will be in Nagpur tomorrow or the day after. Chandrashekhar Bawankule will be in Amravati, Ashish Shelar in Raigad on November 10, Pankaj Bhoyar in Wardha, Meghna Bordikar in Parbhani, Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale in Satara and Pankaja Munde in Jalna. Akash Fundkar will confirm his programme and let it be known.

Jaykumar Gore will celebrate Diwali with sanitation workers in Pandharpur on the 9th. On the 10th he will be with farmers in Man Khatav, and on the 11th he will celebrate the festival in a village in Solapur. Mangal Prabhat Lodha's programme is in the tribal hamlet in Aarey Colony.
