Tahsil police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and molestation provisions against a 38-year-old relative of an 11-year-old girl in Nagpur.

Nagpur: A 38-year-old man has been accused of obscene behaviour towards an 11-year-old girl, a relative, within the limits of Tahsil police station. The allegation that the abuse came from a person from whom the girl expected safety and affection has caused a stir in the area.

Police have registered a case against the accused relative under the provisions on molestation and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and have begun an investigation.

According to the information available, the accused is alleged to have behaved obscenely with the girl on the pretext of playing with her. The allegation says this was not a one-time act but happened repeatedly.

At first the girl did not properly understand the behaviour. As it did not stop, she became distressed and finally told her father what had happened. The matter came to light only after the girl herself informed her father.

Recognising the seriousness of the matter, the father lodged a complaint at Tahsil police station. Police registered the case against the 38-year-old accused on the basis of that complaint.

Police are now investigating the case. These are allegations, and further details will become clear only after the investigation.
