Nagpur: A 40-year-old woman died in an accident near Chemri Gate on the Dahegaon-Kamthi road at Khaparkheda at about 6.30 pm on October 22, 2026. According to a complaint lodged with the police, the accident happened in a strange manner.
The deceased has been identified as Shabnam Sattar Chhavare (40), a resident of Ward No. 2, Khaparkheda, in Savner taluka. Her husband, Sattar Israel Chhavare (52), was riding the motorcycle (MH 40 T 7594) with Shabnam on the pillion. The two were on their way home.
According to the complaint, a car (MH 40 CO 8413) was parked near a paan stall close to Chemri Gate. As the couple were passing the car, its driver suddenly opened the door without looking at the vehicles coming from behind or checking the mirror. Because the door opened abruptly, the motorcycle hit it directly and both were thrown onto the road.
At that moment, a truck coming from behind ran over Shabnam, who was seriously injured. Passers-by and her husband rushed her to Max Hospital for treatment, but doctors examined her there and declared her dead.
On the complaint of the woman's husband, Sub-Inspector Maruti Jangilwad of Khaparkheda police station has registered a case against the unidentified car driver under Sections 281, 106(1) and 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The car driver fled after the accident. Police are actively searching for the driver, and further investigation is under way.
