It is believed that worshipping it in the correct manner can bring relief from many problems in life.

If there is financial difficulty or mounting debt, it is advised to place a silver Ganesh idol in a copper or brass plate and worship it. Ganpati should be offered a paste of red sandalwood, red flowers, jaggery and silver coins. Along with this, chanting "Om Gan Ganpataye Namah" and reciting the Rin Mukti Mangal Stotra is suggested.
If there is quarrelling or tension at home, it is believed that a silver Ganpati should be installed near Shiva-Parvati. It is said that worshipping with rice, ghee, curd and sugar placed in a brass plate should be done. This is believed to create an atmosphere of peace and happiness in the home.
According to astrology, to remove Mangal Dosh, a silver Ganpati idol is wrapped in red cloth and placed on a copper plate. During worship, it is advised to offer red sandalwood, jaggery, a copper coin and a sweet roti. Along with this, chanting "Om Gan Ganpataye Namah" ten times is suggested.
For relief from the evil eye or trouble from enemies, it is believed that a silver Ganpati idol should be wrapped in yellow cloth and placed on a steel plate. It is also suggested that five cloves, five cardamoms and five flowers be offered during worship, and a five-wick lamp (panchmukhi diya) be lit.
