In astrology, the Moon is considered the significator of the mind, mother and water. If the Moon is strong in a person's birth chart, life tends to remain peaceful and happy, but if the Moon is weak or afflicted, stress takes hold of the mind. Many people ignore the signs of a weak Moon, even though it is important to know whether the Moon's position in one's chart is strong or weak.

This year, Bhadrapada Purnima falls on Saturday, September 26. On this day, worshipping the Moon in the evening and donating white items such as milk and rice is considered auspicious. The following day, Sunday, September 27, marks the start of Pitru Paksha. Those with a weak Moon in their chart can strengthen its position by performing certain remedies on Bhadrapada Purnima.

The Purnima tithi begins at 11:06 pm on September 25 and lasts until 10:18 pm on September 26. Moonrise is expected between around 5:25 pm and 6:09 pm. During this period, the Abhijit Muhurat will last from 11:48 am to 12:36 pm, while the time for Satyanarayan Puja is given as 7:42 am to 9:12 am.

If the Moon is weak in a birth chart, a person may face several symptoms at the mental, emotional and physical level. These include overthinking small matters and remaining constantly stressed, mood swings without reason, irritability and sadness. Other signs include difficulty in making decisions, persistent fear or anxiety, weak memory or trouble retaining things for long, repeated disturbance in sleep at night, insomnia or bad dreams, recurring cold and cough or lung-related issues, and strain in the relationship with one's mother or a decline in the mother's health.

Worshipping the Moon on Purnima and following certain rituals is said to strengthen the Moon in one's chart and bring peace of mind. On the night of Purnima, at moonrise, offer water mixed with raw milk, Gangajal, white sandalwood and white flowers to the Moon three times in a copper or brass vessel. While offering the water or after the worship, chant "Om Som Somay Namah" or the Moon seed mantra "Om Shram Shreem Shraum Sah Chandramase Namah".

On the morning of Purnima, visit a Shiva temple and offer water along with white items such as sugar, rice and milk on the Shivling. According to astrology, wearing a silver bracelet, ring or chain is also said to strengthen the Moon. Keep kheer made on the night of Purnima under moonlight for some time before eating it as prasad. Donating white items such as milk, rice, sugar or white clothes to the needy on every Purnima is also considered good. After consulting an astrologer, a pearl can be worn set in a silver ring.

To strengthen the Moon in one's chart, pure raw milk and water should be regularly offered on the Shivling, especially on Mondays. According to astrology, the Moon resides on Lord Shiva's forehead, so worshipping the Shivling removes afflictions related to the Moon.
