India have made a major change to their squad before the T20 series against the West Indies begins. The BCCI and the selection committee have released Washington Sundar. Naman Dhir has been given a place in the team in his stead and will now play in the T20 side.

The two teams are currently playing a three-match ODI series, of which two matches have been played. India won both. They won yesterday's match by 8 wickets. The third match will be played in New Chandigarh. After the ODI series, the two teams will also face each other in the T20 series.

The selection committee decided to rest and release Sundar from the T20 series with the important series ahead in mind. Immediately after the West Indies tour, India must play a three-match Test series against New Zealand. Washington Sundar's role in red-ball cricket is expected to be very important. He has therefore been released from the T20 series as part of preparation for the Test series and management of his workload.

According to the BCCI, the decision has been taken in view of the important upcoming Test series against New Zealand, so that Sundar can get full practice in red-ball cricket. The new season of the Ranji Trophy, the biggest domestic cricket tournament, is due to begin on October 11. Having been released from the T20 squad, Sundar will now be able to play the opening Ranji Trophy matches for his state team, Tamil Nadu.

Naman Dhir, who has come into the squad in Sundar's place, is a young all-rounder from Punjab. He had drawn attention in the IPL and domestic cricket with his aggressive batting and useful off-spin bowling. After a strong showing in the ODI series, India will go into the T20 series against the West Indies intending to maintain their dominance.

Meanwhile, India have suffered another setback ahead of the third ODI. Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is out of the team.
