Washim: LCB nabs serial burglar, recovers Rs 11 lakh from two house break-ins

Thieves broke into two separate houses in Washim city on the same day and made off with goods worth lakhs of rupees. The Local Crime Branch (LCB) team has now arrested a habitual burglary accused in connection with the case.

An unidentified thief had broken the lock and entered the homes of Sitaram Sakharam Washimkar (65), a resident of Irrigation Colony in the City Line area, and Arun Ramrao Sarnaik (59), a resident of Yojana Park Colony in the same locality. Gold and silver jewellery along with cash worth lakhs of rupees were stolen from the houses. A case was registered against the unidentified accused at Washim City police station in this connection.

Superintendent of Police Nikesh Khatmode-Patil had directed the officers and personnel of the Local Crime Branch, Washim, to trace the unidentified accused in both cases and solve them. Acting on these directions, the team, based on technical and secret information, arrested the accused, Rando alias Feroz Khan Saheb Khan (36), a resident of Mukhri Chowk, Tukaram Bapu Ward, Pusad, and handed him over to Mehkar police.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Nikesh Khatmode-Patil, Additional Superintendent of Police Lata Phad and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ramkrishna Pawar, and was led by Police Inspector Sudhakar Aher. The team included Sub-Inspector Sachin Gokhale, Sub-Inspector Shekhar Maskar, and police constables Gajanan Avgale, Dilip Devkate, Vinod Avgale, Bhushan Thakre, Vitthal Mahale, Tushar Thakre, Sandeep Dutonde, Avinash Wadhe, Santosh Bagh, Shyam Ingle and Sunil Tayde. Assistant Police Inspector Ashish Bhonde, and police constables Sandeep Sarode, Mahesh Akare, Sheetal Mankar and Ganesh Bingal of the Fingerprint Branch, Washim, also took part in the operation.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to carrying out both burglaries. Police then recovered the stolen goods from him in the presence of witnesses, including a 7-tola gold bar and a 9-tola silver bar. The total value of the recovered goods was assessed at Rs 11,05,000. Washim City police station is investigating the case further.
