Collector Yogesh Kumbhejkar has directed strict planning for drinking water supply in Washim district to prevent a water shortage from arising. He said the existing water stock should be used properly so that citizens continue to get an uninterrupted water supply, and that the necessary steps should be completed in time.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer Arpit Chauhan, Resident Deputy Collector Vishwanath Ghuge, Executive Engineer of the Rural Water Supply Department Kanerkar, Mahavitaran Superintending Engineer Sandeep Darwade, District Water Conservation Officer Harendra Waghmare, Municipal Administration Joint Commissioner Dr Baburao Bikkad, District Disaster Management Officer Shahu Bhagat, and Municipal Chief Officer Arvind Mundhe, among other senior officials.

The collector asked the Rural Water Supply Department to survey each village separately and ensure that drinking water remains available until 31 August 2027, with the necessary planning to begin immediately. The Chief Executive Officer was directed to hold an immediate review meeting at the panchayat samiti level with the Gat Vikas Adhikari, gram panchayat officers, and sub-engineers and branch engineers of the Rural Water Supply Department. The collector also directed that the main and distribution pipelines of rural water supply schemes be inspected every 10 days, with any leaks repaired immediately.

The administration also asked for special attention to preventing water theft for illegal irrigation. Mahavitaran was asked to remain alert to stop the illegal lifting of water at night from the district's projects and reservoirs. Special attention was directed toward stopping the illegal lifting of water for irrigation at the Ekburji project, with senior Mahavitaran officials directed to immediately disconnect illegal power connections there.

Officials and staff from the municipal council, Mahavitaran, the irrigation department, the minor irrigation department and the soil and water conservation department have been asked to form joint patrol teams for surprise night patrols at dams and reservoirs. All concerned departments have also been directed to immediately send the names and mobile numbers of their representatives to the collector's office.
