Wardha holds drug-free India awareness rally and programme under Seva Sankalp Abhiyan

District Collector Vanmathi C flagged off a rally in Wardha, followed by a programme at the Zilla Parishad hall to sensitise students about staying drug-free.

A Nasha Mukt Bharat awareness programme was held in Wardha under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. The programme was organised at the Sindhutai Sapkal hall of the Zilla Parishad. An awareness rally was taken out before the programme, and it was started by District Collector Vanmathi C.

After garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, the Collector flagged off the rally and began the programme. Additional Chief Executive Officer Suraj Gohad, District Social Welfare Officer Pratibha Bhagwatkar, Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare Ankesh Kedar and other officials were present. Nursing college students, students of government hostels and aided hostels, and staff took part in large numbers.

The rally went from the statue of Mahatma Gandhi to the Zilla Parishad hall. After it ended, an awareness session by the main speakers on staying free of addiction began at the Sindhutai Sapkal hall. Chief Executive Officer Parag Soman presided over the programme and guided the students. Tukaram Ghode, Sanghpal Patil and Subhash Yenorkar, recipients of the Mahatma Gandhi State-Level Addiction-Free Service Award, and Nasha Mukti Mitra Harishchandra Pal also addressed the students.

Police Inspector Vinod Chaudhari guided the students by showing them a film. Pratiksha Dapurkar, president of the Manikdhara Multipurpose Organisation in Ashti, also spoke to the students about staying drug-free. Finally, Bhagwat Bhakta (Habhap) Namdev Kale Maharaj addressed the students in a lecture.

The programme was organised jointly by the District Social Welfare Officer, the Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare and the Indira Gandhi Addiction-Free Centre.
