Pramila Chavan, who bought an electric Bajaj Chetak scooter from Swami Motors, an authorised Bajaj dealer in Wai, has not received her vehicle's registration even three and a half months later. Chavan has alleged that despite repeated assurances, the dealer has not completed the vehicle's registration and is deliberately stalling her.

Chavan said she bought the scooter from Swami Motors on May 29, 2026. At the time of delivery, the dealer cited continuous holidays and told her, "Take the vehicle, I will get the registration done." Trusting the dealer's word, she took the scooter home. But every time she contacted the dealer afterward about the registration, she did not get a proper answer.

According to Chavan, every time she called the dealer, she got a new excuse. Sometimes she was told he was sick and in hospital, sometimes that his wife had just delivered a baby. Later she was told he had gone to Satara for the registration work. During this period, the dealer called twice asking for an OTP in the name of registration. Two days after she gave the OTP, she was called in to get the number plate fitted, but even after that, she alleges, the registration was not completed.

Chavan said that ever since she bought the vehicle on May 29, she has been running after the dealer for the registration for three and a half months, but the work has still not been done. She said that after buying the vehicle, she should have been given clear information about its registration, the necessary documents and the number plate, but despite repeated assurances this was not done.

Chavan questioned how, under government rules requiring a vehicle's registration and other necessary procedures to be completed before it is handed over to the customer, she was given a vehicle without registration. She said the concerned department should examine whether it is right to let a customer use a vehicle while its registration is pending, and that the company should explain the trouble caused because of the dealer responsible for the registration.

Chavan also raised the serious question of who would be responsible if an accident or mishap occurred on the road while the vehicle's registration was still pending. She said, "Despite buying the vehicle from an authorised Bajaj dealer, I have had to chase the registration for three and a half months. I took the vehicle trusting the dealer's assurance, but the registration has still not been done. In such a situation, whose responsibility is it to ensure customers' safety?"

Pramila Chavan has demanded that the concerned transport department investigate the matter and get the vehicle's registration done immediately. She also said there should be a system in place to give customers clear information about the necessary documents, registration status and vehicle use at the time of purchase.
