Vivo launches X Fold6 foldable with 6,900mAh battery and Jovi AI agent
Vivo has launched the X Fold6 foldable phone, with a 6,900mAh battery, a 200-megapixel main camera and the OriginOS 7 Fold software.
Vivo has launched its new foldable phone, the X Fold6. The company is said to have given it features no other maker has offered so far. It is described as ideal for people who travel constantly and stay busy with work, such as those in business.
The phone comes in two colours, Prism Blac and Horizon Blue. The black phone is 4.4mm thick when unfolded and weighs just 228 grams. The blue one is slightly thicker, at 4.8mm, and weighs 235 grams. Getting a phone this thin in a foldable is a significant achievement.
The phone has a large 6,900mAh battery, the biggest in a Vivo foldable. The company has used silicon technology, which has let a large battery fit into a thin body. The battery works even at minus 20 degrees. The phone supports 80W wired charging and 40W wireless charging, and one phone can charge another through wireless charging.
The inner display measures 8.02 inches when the phone is opened, and the outer display is 6.51 inches. Both displays adjust automatically from 1Hz to 120Hz, and brightness goes up to 5,000 nits, so the screen stays clear even in sunlight. The processor is MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, which Vivo built with MediaTek specially for the X Fold 6, so the phone should run very fast.
The software is OriginOS 7 Fold. It lets users work in four windows at once and drag photos or information from one app to another. An AI meeting assistant writes down who said what in a meeting and prepares a summary at the end. Video calls get live subtitles. The AI also names files and summarises them, and can make a PDF easier to read, like an e-book.
When the phone is connected to a monitor, it works like a desktop. It has an AI agent called Jovi, which carries out tasks from spoken instructions. The main camera is 200 megapixels, and a 3x periscope zoom goes up to 100x. Macro photographs can also be taken with it. Vivo's V3+ chip processes the photos. Motion Portrait 2.0 keeps pictures of running children, dogs or cats clear. There is a stage mode for concerts, and 4K video is recorded at 60fps in Dolby Vision.
While filming with the rear camera, a teleprompter can be shown on the small front screen. A cartoon can be shown on that screen to make small children look at the camera. The phone is rated IPX8, IPX9 and IP5X, which means protection from water and dust. The company says the phone is not damaged even if it freezes. For signal, it has a 1+4 chipset, and in 129 countries users can take a local data plan without changing the SIM. Overall, the Vivo X Fold 6 is not just a phone but a laptop, camera and power bank in one.
