Video shows dozen children crammed onto one bike with elderly rider
A viral video shows an elderly bike rider carrying about a dozen children, some clinging to footrests, sparking road safety concerns online.
Driving on the road requires following certain rules. Under Section 128 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, a bike rider is allowed to carry only one additional passenger, meaning a maximum of two people, including the rider, are legally permitted on a bike. Many people do not follow this rule, and it is common to see three or even four people riding on a single bike. But a video recently shared on social media showed an even more shocking sight. Not three or four, but as many as a dozen children were seen travelling on a single bike. An elderly bike rider was seen with a large group of children adjusted precariously behind him. The incident is going viral on social media and has raised questions about safety.
The video was shot by a person from inside their own car. While driving on the road, they saw a fully loaded bike passing in front of their car. The sight on the bike was so unusual that they could not look away. They immediately captured the scene on their phone camera and shared it on social media. In the video, an elderly bike rider is seen with nearly six to seven small children adjusted behind him as well as in front on the fuel tank. Some of the children were seen standing and hanging on to the footrests on the side of the bike. School bags were also seen hanging from the children's hands, suggesting that they were travelling on the bike either coming from or going to school. The visuals shocked many people, since so many people travelling on one bike could prove fatal, as anyone losing their grip could have caused an accident and injured the children.
The video was shared from an Instagram account named arshad_khan_886906. As the video goes viral on social media, many users have expressed their opinions on it. One user wrote that fitting so many children onto a single bike endangers not just their own lives but others' as well. Another user wrote that even a car does not seat this many people. Yet another user wrote that at least the children's safety should have been considered.
