Vi offers free international roaming in over 170 countries

Telecom company Vi has announced a new facility for its customers. The company said postpaid, prepaid and enterprise plan users will get free international roaming in more than 170 countries. The offer is part of the company's new brand promise, "Vi Pay Hain Sab VIP".

Vi customers travelling abroad will now get this roaming facility without paying any extra fee. The company said the move will let customers and their families stay in touch easily and completely free while travelling in more than 170 countries. A new television advertisement featuring actor Shah Rukh Khan has been made to promote the offer.

For several years, maintaining mobile connectivity abroad has been a major problem for travellers. People had to carry more than one SIM card, buy a local or travel SIM before their trip, could not use their original Indian mobile number, missed important bank or login OTPs, had to rely on unsafe public Wi-Fi, and faced heavy roaming bills apart from paperwork hassles. Vi said it took this decision keeping travellers' difficulties in mind.

According to the company, postpaid, prepaid and enterprise customers will now get free international roaming for up to three foreign trips a year. This will include international data limits and outgoing calling minutes depending on the plan. Vi claims the move could help customers save around Rs 9,000 a year.

To avail the facility, customers will need to open the Vi app, go to the "International Roam-Free Plan" section and select an eligible plan. They can then use free international connectivity while abroad. The offer includes postpaid plans starting at Rs 501, prepaid plans with annual unlimited data, and corporate plans for enterprise customers starting at Rs 451.
