Guardian Minister Pratap Sarnaik will distribute Diwali ration kits to about two lakh farmer families in drought-affected Dharashiv district on November 2 and 3.

Dharashiv district is facing drought, which has brought financial hardship to farmer families. So that these families can have a sweeter Diwali, about two lakh families in the district will be given Diwali ration kits on behalf of Guardian Minister Pratap Sarnaik.

The initiative is being carried out on the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister and senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde. It has been launched, and the kits will be distributed by Guardian Minister Pratap Sarnaik on November 2 and 3.

Transport Minister and Guardian Minister Pratap Sarnaik and Yuva Sena working president Purvesh Sarnaik have supported the initiative.

The contents of the kit have also been decided. It includes sugar, maida, semolina, gram flour and dalda needed for Diwali snacks. Besides these, the kit will contain diyas, utne, Lakshmi's footprints and a calendar for the new year.

Distribution events will be held at seven places. On November 2, events will be held at Tamalwadi, Yenegur and Uttar Jevali. On November 3, the kits will be distributed at Palasap, Yedshi, Yermala and Pargaon. Guardian Minister Pratap Sarnaik will attend these events and interact with the farmer families.

Explaining why the initiative is being carried out, Sarnaik said the drought has brought financial hardship to farmer families. He said the work was being done so that the hearth in their homes does not go cold, the smiles on children's faces are not lost, and the Diwali festival does not pass in darkness even in a drought.

He also said that extending a helping hand to farmers in distress and building in them the belief to carry on living is true humanity and social commitment.

Diwali is regarded as a festival of joy and enthusiasm, but it is hard for farmer families in financial distress because of the drought to celebrate it. The initiative is therefore expected to be important in helping such families. It is expected that receiving the kits will add to the festive cheer of the two lakh families. The distribution, taking place on Sarnaik's initiative, will bring relief to drought-hit farmer families during Diwali.
