The Crime Branch anti-narcotics squad arrested two men in Ganeshpeth and seized powder resembling MD drugs, phones and two vehicles; two suppliers are being sought.

The anti-narcotics team of the Crime Branch in Nagpur has continued its action against drug trafficking. In the latest case, the team raided an area under the Ganeshpeth police station limits and arrested two accused with powder that looked like MD drugs. Goods worth a total of Rs 7.26 lakh were seized.

The team had received information that narcotics were being sold in the Ganeshpeth area. Acting on it, the team raided the road behind Sakhle Guruji School, where two youths were detained on suspicion.

The arrested accused have been named as Sheikh Faizan Sheikh Aslam and Abdul Anis. Both live in the Motha Tajbagh area.

A search of the two yielded about 7 grams of powder resembling MD drugs, said to be worth Rs 71,000. Three mobile phones, an Activa moped and a car were also seized. Together, the seized goods are valued at Rs 7.26 lakh. The investigation has found that vehicles were being used for drug transactions.

Questioning of the arrested men has also brought out the names of two more people who supply narcotics: Aman Ingle and Sandeep Kashyap. They are said to live in the Maitri Buddha Vihar premises at Rambagh in the Imamwada area. Neither has been caught so far, and police are searching for them.

A case has been registered at Ganeshpeth police station under the NDPS Act. The arrested accused have been handed over to Ganeshpeth police for further investigation. Police are also trying to establish how large the network supplying MD drugs in the city is and who else is behind the trafficking.
