Two held at Bhakti-Shakti Chowk with burglary tools, six theft cases solved in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pimpri-Chinchwad police detained two men found with housebreaking tools and said they confessed to two burglaries and four two-wheeler thefts, with Rs 3.25 lakh recovered.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police's crime branch Unit 1 detained two men moving about in a suspicious manner at Bhakti-Shakti Chowk while investigating burglary and two-wheeler theft cases. Tools used in housebreaking were found in their bag. Questioning has led to the detection of six cases, two of burglary and four of two-wheeler theft.
According to police, goods worth Rs 3.25 lakh have been recovered from the two. The suspects have been named as Vikas alias Jangalya Milind Kamble (35, resident of Pimpri) and Gautam Dharmalingam Nadar (28, resident of Rajgurunagar, Khed taluka, Pune district). Both have been handed over to Kalewadi police.
Police said the Unit 1 team was on patrol on Monday, September 29, in connection with burglary and two-wheeler thefts. Two men were seen in suspicious circumstances near the PMPML bus stop at Bhakti-Shakti Chowk. The team detained them and opened their bag in the presence of independent witnesses.
The bag contained large screwdrivers, a hammer, a chisel and a saw. Police said these are all tools used in burglaries. The two were then questioned further.
Police said that during questioning the two confessed to one burglary each within the limits of Kalewadi and Market Yard police stations. They also confessed to one two-wheeler theft case of Chikhli police station and three of Sant Tukaramnagar police station. Goods and two-wheelers from these six cases together, worth Rs 3.25 lakh, have been recovered.
The action was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rohidas Pawar and Assistant Commissioner Dr Sudarshan Rathod. The team included Unit 1 Senior Police Inspector Rameshwar Motale, Sub-Inspector Karmraj Gawade and police personnel Vijay Shelkande, Manoj Rathod, Ajay Dagale, Uddhav Khedkar, Sandesh Deshmukh, Vijay Janrao and Tejas Bhalchim.
