Two families in Chandrapur district's Rajura taluka filed cross complaints after a money dispute turned into an assault on both sides.
Two families clashed over a money dispute in the Mundigate area of Rajura taluka in Chandrapur district, leading to an assault. The incident took place on the evening of September 27, 2026, after which both sides filed separate complaints against each other at Virur police station. Based on these complaints, police have registered cross cases against both parties, and the investigation is underway. The allegations in the complaints are yet to be proved in court.
The first complaint was filed by Aditya Shankar Bhukya, 25, a resident of Mundigate who runs a building material supply and transport business. According to his complaint, three to four months earlier he had supplied gitti (crushed stone) worth Rs 6,500 for the construction of the house of Ganesh Saku Lakhawat, a resident of the village. Around 4:30 pm on September 27, Aditya called Ganesh to ask for the remaining payment, and Ganesh allegedly spoke rudely, abused him over the phone and challenged him to come home and show up.
When Aditya went to Ganesh's house to confront him, Ganesh Lakhawat, his younger brother Gagan Saku Lakhawat and Naresh Ramchandra Lakhawat allegedly caught hold of Aditya and beat him with a bamboo stick and with their hands on his head, legs and stomach. When Aditya's parents, brother and sister arrived to resolve the dispute, the accused allegedly slapped the sister and hit her on the arm with the stick, and also beat the father and brother, according to the complaint. Villagers intervened and temporarily resolved the dispute, but after the Aditya family returned home, Ganesh, Gagan, Naresh and their aunt Tara Ramchandra Lakhawat allegedly came back to the house and hurled obscene abuses and threats. Based on this complaint, police have registered a case against Ganesh Lakhawat, Gagan Lakhawat, Naresh Lakhawat and Tara Lakhawat under sections 296, 115(2), 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.
The second complaint was filed by Ganesh Saku Lakhawat, 24. According to his complaint, he had bought agricultural land from Aditya Shankar Bhukya a few months earlier, for which he had paid Rs 3,000 and owed Rs 500. Around 5 pm on September 27, Aditya allegedly called and abused him over the remaining payment. Soon after, Aditya, his father Shankar Bhukya, elder brother Aniket Bhukya and a relative came to Ganesh's house and began quarrelling, demanding the money. Ganesh tried to explain that he would pay once his parents returned the following week, but the three allegedly assaulted him, broke the glass of a house window with a stone, and damaged the dome of a two-wheeler. After Vasant Ajmera, Rupesh Ajmera, Suraj Banot and Roshan Bhukya intervened and stopped the fight and Ganesh went inside the house, Aditya and Aniket allegedly forced their way in and assaulted him again, the complaint states. Based on this complaint, Virur police have registered a case against Aditya Shankar Bhukya, Shankar Bhukya and Aniket Shankar Bhukya under sections 333, 115(2), 296, 3(5), 324(4) and 351(2) of the BNS 2023.
