Truecaller partners with LinkedIn to show job and company details on caller ID

Caller ID platform Truecaller has announced a partnership with LinkedIn. Following the decision by the two companies, users will now be able to share professional details on their calling card. The company has clarified that the feature is optional, meaning it will be up to each user whether they want to use it.

Under this feature, LinkedIn users will get the option to share their LinkedIn-verified details on the caller ID service. Truecaller and LinkedIn say the move is essential to curb fake profiles and fraudulent accounts. This will make Truecaller a more trustworthy platform for its users.

The new integration gives LinkedIn users the chance to display their professional details on Truecaller's calling card. Through this, users can also display the name and profile photo they use on LinkedIn on Truecaller.

The feature essentially allows Truecaller users to use their LinkedIn verification to add their workplace, organisation and job title directly to their Truecaller profile. This facility is available to both existing and new LinkedIn users. Once these details are added to the profile, anyone calling the user will be able to see this information. To do this, the user must choose to add and display all this information on Truecaller themselves. After that, any Truecaller user can tap on the caller's LinkedIn profile to get information about their professional background.

This integration with LinkedIn is not limited to existing users alone. New Truecaller users will also have a "Login with LinkedIn" option. During this process, information such as the name and profile photo on LinkedIn can be shared to the Truecaller profile. Besides this, existing users can also link their LinkedIn account to Truecaller to display their professional identity.

Truecaller has also made clear that connecting a LinkedIn profile and sharing professional information is not mandatory. Users can decide for themselves whether they want their workplace and job title shown on caller ID. Users will also always have the option to disconnect their LinkedIn account from Truecaller at any time.

For now, this integration between Truecaller and LinkedIn is being made available to Android users worldwide. According to the company, the feature will be released for iPhone users at a later time. This means that for now, only users on Android using Truecaller will get the option to link their LinkedIn-verified professional identity to their caller ID.
