Tipper driver who hit bullock cart near Talodhi held after 13 days

Talodhi police have made a breakthrough, 13 days after a horrific accident. They have arrested the driver of a tipper truck that rammed a bullock cart and fled, and have seized the tipper. According to police, the driver was caught while passing through the Umred area.

The accident took place on October 10, 2026, between 4 am and 5 am on the highway near the Gomaji Damaji petrol pump, within Talodhi police station limits. A tipper coming at high speed and negligently in the wrong direction from the Nagbhid side hit the bullock cart of Natthu Shriram Chachane with great force. Chachane was 55 years old and a resident of Talodhi.

In the collision, Chachane suffered a serious leg injury and the bullock died on the spot. The tipper driver fled the scene after the accident. Chachane, who was critically injured, also died during treatment. A case was registered at Talodhi police station on the complaint of Rajendra Rushiji Kodape.

In the investigation, police faced technical difficulty in tracing the vehicle, so Talodhi police put their full investigative effort into the case. They sought information from a secret informant on whose heavy vehicles ply on Talodhi road and where they come from, and began searching for a tipper without a number plate.

During the search, police received confidential information that the vehicle was in Umred, Nagpur district, and was heading towards Mul from Bhiwapur road. Police immediately gave chase. The police station's traffic personnel were alerted and a blockade was also set up on Talodhi road.

The tipper (number MH 40 CD 4632) was found in the possession of Sachin Duryodhan Deshmukh. Deshmukh is 37 years old, a driver by profession, and a resident of Somnala, post Mokerbandi, Bhiwapur tehsil, Nagpur district. Police questioned him.

During questioning, the accused confessed to the crime. Legal action was then taken against him. The tipper used in the incident has been seized and parked at the police station.

The action was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ayush Nopani, Additional Superintendent of Police Ishwar Katkade and Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Brahmapuri Sahil Jharkar. It was carried out by station house officer Assistant Police Inspector Rahul Guhe, Sub-Inspector Rajesh Undirwade, police constable (havaldar) Swapnil Chandekar, and police constables Sandesh Devgade, Vijay Maid and Akshay Hatwar.
