Three youths killed, one injured as two bikes collide head-on on Gondia-Goregaon road
Three young men died and another was seriously injured when two motorcycles collided head-on between Hirdamali and Miltoli on Wednesday night.
Two motorcycles collided head-on on the Gondia-Goregaon road late on Wednesday night. Three young men were killed and one was seriously injured. The accident took place at around 11.30 pm on September 30, between the villages of Hirdamali and Miltoli.
According to the information available, some of the youths were returning to their villages after watching a Ganesh immersion procession in Gondia when the two bikes collided head-on with great force. Both motorcycles were damaged in the impact.
Piyush Yogesh Barewar (a resident of Goregaon), and Manoj Kurjekar and Vinay Kohre (both residents of Soni, Goregaon tehsil) died on the spot. Mankar (a resident of Goregaon), who was with Piyush, is seriously injured.
Gondia Rural police reached the spot on learning of the accident. They prepared a panchnama and sent all three bodies for post-mortem. The injured youth has been admitted to a hospital in Gondia for treatment. His condition is said to be critical.
Police are investigating whether the accident was caused by negligence or speed. A pall of gloom has descended over the Goregaon and Soni areas after the accident on the festival night.
The families in both Goregaon and Soni have been dealt a heavy blow by the incident.
