Three injured in sickle attack near Malegaon petrol pump; case against 6 named, 6-7 others
Malegaon police have booked six named men and six to seven others after three people were hurt in an attack with iron sickles near Taware petrol pump on Monday night.
Three people were injured when a group attacked them with iron sickles (koyta) near the Taware petrol pump in Malegaon (Bk.) on Monday night, the 28th. Malegaon police have registered a case under various sections.
Police have booked Ganesh Bhosale, Shubham More, Mayur Ramchandra Shitole, Prem Kamble, Harshad Randhir and Bhumesh Jhende, along with six to seven other persons. No arrests have been mentioned.
According to police, the complainant, Sandip Dattatray Jagtap (46, a resident of Amarsingh Colony, Malegaon Bk.), was sitting and talking with friends near the Taware petrol pump. The complaint says that Aniket Dhumal had earlier stepped in and settled a quarrel. Nursing a grudge over this, a gang of the accused arrived and drew sharp iron sickles, the complaint says.
The accused allegedly threatened them, saying "We will not leave you alive now", and struck with the sickles. The complaint also says they were beaten with hands, kicks and punches.
Sandip Jagtap, Aniket Udaysingh Dhumal (27) and Prithviraj Atul Nimbalkar (29) were injured in the attack. According to the complaint, the attackers fled on motorcycles on seeing people gather.
The case has been registered at Malegaon police station as crime number 261/2026. It invokes various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act, 1959. Police Sub-Inspector Salve is investigating further. Police Constable (Havaldar) Patare handled the registration of the case.
