Three arrested in Dhule after married woman alleges sexual assault and blackmail
Azad Nagar police arrested three suspects after a 30-year-old married woman in Dhule alleged they sexually assaulted her and blackmailed her with videos.
A 30-year-old married woman in Dhule city has alleged that three men sexually assaulted her. The incident is said to have taken place in Ramdev Baba Nagar, in the Nataraj Talkies area. Public anger in the neighbourhood has been strong since news of the case spread.
According to her complaint, the three had been harassing her. She also alleges that they made videos of her and used them to blackmail her. Unable to bear the alleged harassment, she went to Azad Nagar police station in Dhule city and lodged a complaint.
Azad Nagar police acted immediately on learning of the matter and arrested all three accused. The process of registering a case against them on her complaint continued late into the night. Police are now investigating further. The three accused are in police custody, and the probe is proceeding on the basis of the allegations made in the complaint.
As news of the incident spread, social workers, elected representatives and a large number of residents gathered at Azad Nagar police station. All of them demanded strict action against the accused.
MLA Anup Agrawal also reacted to the case. He said the three arrested on charges of assaulting the woman should face the strictest possible action. Ordinary citizens too have expressed sharp resentment over the incident.
According to the victim's allegations, the three made videos of her and tried to blackmail her with them. She is said to have approached the police after being distressed by the alleged harassment. Police are investigating the truth of these allegations.
