Gold jewellery was stolen from a house in Sasti village of Rajura tehsil in Chandrapur district while the entire family was away. An unidentified thief opened the main door of the house, entered the bedroom, broke open the locker of an iron cupboard and made off with the jewellery kept inside.

According to information received, the complainant had gone to the Jama Masjid in Rajura with his son to offer namaz around 1 pm on September 25, 2026. While leaving, he had only pulled the front door shut without locking it. Police said the theft took place during this window, between 1 pm and 2 pm. When he returned home around 2 pm after namaz, he found the main door open. On going inside, he saw that both shutters of the bedroom's iron cupboard and its locker were open, and the box containing the jewellery had fallen to the floor.

He immediately called his wife to check the jewellery. The inspection confirmed that gold ornaments kept in the locker for daily use by him and his relatives were missing. These included two pairs of gold jhumkas weighing 7 grams valued at Rs 20,000, an ear ring weighing 2 grams valued at Rs 10,000, a gold ring weighing 3 grams valued at Rs 10,000, a 5-gram gold chain with a "786" locket valued at Rs 15,000, gold jhumkas weighing 2 grams valued at Rs 10,000, and a nose ring and besar weighing 1 gram valued at Rs 5,000. In all, about 20 grams of gold worth around Rs 70,000 was stolen.

No one was present at home at the time, and the unidentified thief took advantage of this to break in. On the house owner's complaint, a case has been registered against an unknown accused under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 at Rajura police station. Sub-Inspector Lakshman Lokde is investigating the case further under the guidance of Police Inspector Nitinkumar Chincholkar. Police have not made any arrests so far and the investigation is ongoing.
