A shocking incident has come to light from Thane city, where a police sub-inspector on patrol duty was brutally killed by a habitual offender. The officer who died has been identified as Kisan Bhoir, 56, who was posted at Chitalsar police station. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Raju Valmiki, 30, in connection with the case. The incident has left the Thane police force and the surrounding area in shock.

According to police, around 11.15 pm on Thursday night, PSI Kisan Bhoir was on patrol with his colleagues in a PCR van in the Subhashnagar area of Pokhran Road No. 2. During the patrol, Bhoir asked a food stall that was open late at night and had a crowd gathered at it to shut down.

At the time, the accused Raju Valmiki was creating a ruckus there while drunk. When police asked him to calm down and leave, he began arguing with them. To bring the situation under control, police tried to put him in the vehicle, but he strongly resisted and scuffled with them.

Following this, the accused shoved Bhoir hard and tried to flee. As the accused ran, PSI Kisan Bhoir chased after him. Taking advantage of the moment, an enraged Raju Valmiki picked up a cement brick from the road and struck him directly on the head. Critically injured in the attack, Kisan Bhoir collapsed on the spot, bleeding.

On learning of the incident, other police personnel rushed to the spot and caught the accused Raju Valmiki there. PSI Kisan Bhoir was admitted to a nearby private hospital in critical condition, but doctors declared him dead even before treatment could begin.

A murder case has been registered against the accused Raju Valmiki at Chitalsar police station under stringent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police arrested the accused immediately. Kisan Bhoir was on night duty as part of Ganeshotsav bandobast when he was attacked. The death of a police officer on duty in this manner has cast a pall of grief over the police department.
