Traffic on Thane-Belapur Road will be shut at night. The MMRDA has taken up the key task of placing girders on a bridge of the Airoli-Katai Naka elevated road project. Because of this, vehicular movement on the road will be completely stopped from 11 pm to 6 am tomorrow and again between October 9 and 11.

Parking of vehicles on Thane-Belapur Road is also prohibited during this period. To spare motorists inconvenience, Navi Mumbai Traffic Police have fixed several alternative routes. Those travelling at night have been appealed to use these designated routes.

The traffic police department has said that people and motorists travelling late at night should use these alternative routes to avoid trouble, and should cooperate with the traffic police deployed in the area.

On the routes: for vehicles with six wheels or more heading towards Belapur, a route has been opened from the Mukund company in Digha through the internal roads of the MIDC to their destination. Four-wheelers will turn right at Bharat Bijli Chowk, then turn left at Airoli Fire Brigade Chowk and proceed via Khedekar Chowk. This route has been kept free for four-wheelers.

Those heading towards Thane will have to turn right at the Rabale Naka signal. From there, they can proceed through the internal roads of the MIDC via the Mukund company. For those heading towards Patni, the route via Rabale Naka, Diwagaon Circle and Patni Road will be available.

The closure will affect commuters, and the railway has been suggested as a good option. For those who need to travel from Thane to Panvel via Vashi after 11 pm, the Trans-Harbour local train will be the least congested and safest option.

The internal roads of the MIDC are narrow or winding in places. To avoid confusion at night, motorists have been advised to use Google Maps and travel only after checking live traffic.
