Tata.ev has launched its new compact sedan, the all-new Tata Aeris. The company says the car has been designed specifically with private car buyers in mind, not for fleet use. Available with both petrol and CNG powertrains, the Aeris starts at Rs 5.29 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 6.29 lakh for the iCNG variant (ex-showroom Delhi).

Looking at the full price list, the petrol manual (MT) transmission starts at Rs 5.29 lakh in the "Smart" trim, followed by "Pure" at Rs 6.14 lakh, "Pure +" at Rs 6.74 lakh, "Creative" at Rs 7.49 lakh and the top "Accomplished" trim at Rs 8.19 lakh. For customers who want an automatic, the petrol AMT starts at Rs 6.69 lakh in the "Pure" trim, with "Pure +" at Rs 7.29 lakh, "Creative" at Rs 8.04 lakh and the "Accomplished" variant at Rs 8.74 lakh.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, said: "The sedan has been a timeless expression of car ownership, with loyal sedan customers who value the unique combination of comfort, space, driving dynamics and practicality. With Aeris, we are truly delivering on Tata.ev's philosophy of offering meaningful choice across body styles and powertrain options, presenting customers with a stylish new sedan for those who see their car as a mark of their progress, success and personality. From design and engineering to technology, safety and the driving experience, every decision behind the Aeris has been made keeping the private owner at the centre. This distinct approach gives the car a clear purpose and identity, and gives customers every reason to choose the Aeris."

According to the company, despite holding around 65 percent share of the compact sedan segment, private buyers have long been overlooked, as they had to choose mainly from vehicles designed for fleet use. Fleet operators prioritise operating economics, durability and uptime, while private buyers want a car with an appealing design and features that reflect their success and ambition. The company says the Aeris will never be offered in the fleet segment, with fleet needs continuing to be served separately through the Xpres-T brand, which will retain its own distinct design and identity.

The Aeris has been designed around a "defeat boring" philosophy, covering ideas such as defeating the ordinary, the merely functional, stress and compromise. It gets signature LED headlamps, DRLs, a wide lower grille and diamond-cut arrow alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin features Aerolux ventilated leatherette seats, an open-view dashboard, a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.7 cm digital island cluster. It is also the segment's first car to offer a wireless-charging dual smartphone deck, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the iRA connected car platform with more than 35 connected features, automatic climate control and 419 litres of boot space.

On safety, the car gets 6 airbags as standard, along with electronic stability programme, ABS with EBD and CSC, hill hold control and ISOFIX anchors. It also features the segment's first blind view monitor and multiview digital video recorder, a 360-degree SVS HD camera, auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. The iCNG variant gets separate safety features such as gas leak detection and leak-proof material. On the powertrain front, the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine is available with both 5-speed manual and AMT transmissions, while iCNG AMT and dual-cylinder iCNG technology are also on offer.
