Tata launches new Aeris sedan starting at Rs 5.29 lakh
Tata Motors has launched the Aeris compact sedan in petrol and iCNG options, starting at Rs 5.29 lakh ex-showroom.
Competition in the compact sedan segment is set to heat up again. Tata Motors has launched its new Tata Aeris at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 5.29 lakh. The car comes in both petrol and iCNG options and features a bold design, a premium cabin, modern features and strong safety.
The company has made clear that the Tata Aeris has been built specifically for personal buyers. Unlike typical compact sedans, it will not be offered in the fleet or commercial segment. Tata Motors' Xpres T brand will continue to cater separately to fleet customers, meaning the company wants to give the Aeris a distinct identity as a personal car.
The Aeris is available in several trims, including Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative and Accomplished. The petrol manual variant is priced from Rs 5.29 lakh to Rs 8.19 lakh ex-showroom. The petrol AMT is priced from Rs 6.69 lakh to Rs 8.74 lakh. The iCNG manual variant ranges from Rs 6.29 lakh to Rs 9.19 lakh, while the iCNG AMT ranges from Rs 7.69 lakh to Rs 9.74 lakh.
Both comfort and technology have been prioritised inside the cabin. The car gets AeroLux ventilated leatherette seats, an OpenView dashboard and a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system. It also features a 4.75-inch digital island cluster, a segment-first dual smartphone deck and wireless charging. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included. For connectivity, it has iRA Connected Technology, which supports more than 35 features. Other features include automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a 65W Type C fast charger.
Safety has also not been compromised. The Aeris is built on the company's Safety Dome platform, using ultra-high strength steel, with 6 airbags standard. It also comes with Electronic Stability Program, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Control and ISOFIX child seat anchors. Features such as a Blind View Monitor, a 360-degree camera and a Multi View Digital Video Recorder are also offered. The iCNG variant includes additional safety features such as leak detection and thermal incident protection.
On the engine front, the Aeris gets a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine, available with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. iCNG buyers also get the choice of manual or AMT. Twin-cylinder iCNG technology has been used to reduce the boot space compromise typically seen in CNG cars. With a starting price of Rs 5.29 lakh, the Tata Aeris has emerged as a new option in the compact sedan market on the strength of its styling, modern features, petrol-iCNG options and safety features.
