Nagpur woman thrown out of home after triple talaq over dowry demand
A Nagpur woman was allegedly beaten, given triple talaq and thrown out of her home over an unmet dowry demand of five lakh rupees.
A newly married woman was harassed for dowry in the Wathoda police station area of Nagpur. According to the complaint, the accused beat her after their demand for five lakh rupees was not met, and then threw her out of the house after pronouncing "talaq" three times.
The 21 year old victim was married to accused Aashiq Chhaware. According to her complaint, her father had given a refrigerator, cupboard, washing machine and dressing table among other items at the wedding. Some time after the marriage, her husband Aashiq Chhaware, brother in law Md Tausif and mother in law Shamsunisa began demanding a dowry of five lakh rupees.
It is alleged that when the demand was not met, they began torturing her, hurling abuses and beating her. Aashiq threatened to marry another woman. On July 2, 2026, Aashiq abused her and pronounced "talaq" three times. He then called the victim's brother and threw her out of the house.
On the woman's complaint, the case was referred to the Bharosa Cell. Based on the Bharosa Cell's report, Wathoda police have registered a case against the husband, brother in law and mother in law.
