Delhi have dropped former captain Nitish Rana and named Ayush Badoni skipper for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, which begins on November 14.

Squads from various states for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2026 were announced on November 6, 2026. With the teams of the country's domestic T20 tournament out, several big names have been left out, among them Nitish Rana, Mayank Agarwal and Shreyas Gopal, who did not find a place in their squads.

Delhi's squad was announced yesterday. The biggest blow was to former captain Nitish Rana, who was not picked at all. His omission has set off discussion in cricketing circles. Elsewhere, experienced batter Mayank Agarwal and Shreyas Gopal have been left out of the Karnataka squad, which has caused surprise.

Delhi have made big changes in their 16-member squad. With Rana dropped, Ayush Badoni has been made Delhi captain.

The Delhi squad is: Ayush Badoni (captain), Priyansh Arya, Sarthak Ranjan, Yash Dhull, Ayush Doseja, Himmat Singh, Mayank Rawat, Keshav Dabas, Tejasvi, Anuj Rawat, Ishant Sharma, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav, Simarjeet Singh, Suyash Sharma and Digvesh.

Bihar's squad has also been announced, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been given a major responsibility. The Bihar Cricket Association has made him captain of the side, so the added responsibility now rests on his shoulders.

The tournament, regarded as one of India's premier domestic T20 events, begins on November 14. Teams from all states are ready to show their skills, and it will be a big opportunity for young players.

This season Delhi have been placed in Elite Group B. Besides Delhi, the group has Bihar, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Railways, Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu. All the group's matches will be played in Indore.

Delhi will begin their campaign on November 14 with the first match against Jammu and Kashmir.
