Sweet shop owner booked for molesting 12-year-old girl in Nagpur
A 58-year-old sweet shop owner in Nagpur has been booked under POCSO for molesting a 12-year-old girl who had gone to a grocery store.
Nagpur: A case of molestation of a 12-year-old girl has come to light in the Old Kamptee police station area. Police have registered a case against sweet shop owner Vinod Surajmal Sharma (58) based on a complaint filed by the girl's family.
According to police sources, the girl's mother had sent her to a grocery store to buy items at 9 pm on September 14. While returning home, Sharma called the girl into his sweet shop. He started talking to her about her studies, and during this, touched her inappropriately. The girl reached home frightened and told her mother about the incident.
Since Sharma was known to the family, the mother did not inform her husband about the incident. The father grew suspicious after noticing a change in his daughter's behaviour and questioned his wife. Following this, a complaint was filed on September 19. Police have registered a case under sexual harassment provisions and POCSO, and have begun an investigation.
